As the title says.... WHAT'S UP EVERYBODY?

I know I should be sleeping now but as I was doing the usual stalking-ppl-on-fb daily routine of random people before I go to bed, I realized I have sorta "disconnected" from the utarians >_<"

I know it's really common when one asks "how are you" just to start a conversation with a stranger/friend just for the sake of being polite or god-knows-what reasons, but here's a genuine "how are you" to everyone in kiasu spirit.

How are you? How's your new job/course?

Well, here's a lil info bout my current life. Staying in PJ now, working as a biomedical conversion engineer that deals with MRI images and designing knee implants everyday. Is my work stressful? Yes of course it is, but it's more like everyone in my department is stressed due to KPI issue. On the good side, I don't deal with clients/surgeons directly =D

FYP Information + Final Exam Schedule

Just for you to know:

THESIS SUBMISSION

Phase 1: Submission of Thesis for Marking
a. No need to SIGN the approval/declaration form (Hii, 2010) (unless your supervisor said so, though quite rarely).

b. Hand in your thesis by 27th of April, 2010, 5 pm to your supervisor and Mr. Asraf (ground floor FGO, the counter on your left. He is the ONE and ONLY Malay guy staff at that floor, very nice person). If your supervisor is in Kampar, you can hand in BOTH of your thesis to Mr Asraf and tell him one of the copy is to be dispatched to Kampar and tell him your supervisor's name. You can also ask your Kampar friends to hand in the thesis for you but please do this BEFORE the due date. And I am saying this once only to those whose supervisors are in Kampar: DO NOT HAND IN YOUR THESIS TO DR WONG BY PUTTING IN HER PIGEONHOLE!

I "bold-ed" the statement, capitalise the whole thing, blew-up the font size, coloured it red, highlighted it yellow, and put an exclamation mark so don't say I did not mention this before. :)

Phase 2: Returning of Thesis for Correction
a. The final date is at 19th of May, 2010, Wednesday. It could be earlier, I do not know, because this date is set due to the possibility of third examiner. If your thesis does not go through the 3rd examiner, perhaps it could be returned earlier. Don't quote me on this because I am just speculating.

Phase 3: Submission of Softcopy (in PDF format, burned onto the CD) to Office
a. The closing date is 26th of May, 2010. I think you could hand in earlier than that.

FINAL EXAMINATION

See what I have Blasted...

Just now, I helped my friend to blast her ~500 bp sequence of 16s rRNA gene of an unknown bacteria collected from soil.

Guess what is the result? [click to enlarge]

The E-value is low (in fact, it is so low it is zero). Low E value means it is highly possible that particular organism is the one you are looking for. In this case, it is Bacillus anthracis. OH... MY... GOD.................

Although it only says a partial sequence, a 500 bp out of the total 1400 bp 16S rRNA gene and with a score of 900+ and E value = 0, it has a good chance to be right! Then and again, a full-length gene is needed for a 100% identity. Sigh, too bad it is not a full length one.

WBLE trouble

Ok. Here is a shortcut to register your subjects.

1. Access WBLE
2. Select FES 201001 from the left sidebar
3. You will see a list of courses. Ignore it. Search "Bioinformatics" on the search field.
4. You should see 3 options, if I remembered correctly. Select the Dr Alan's one and make sure the year is 201001 for that subject.
5. Then click yes when a pop up is displayed.
6. Now, click on the "Participants" link on the left sidebar.
7. Search either Chua Chee Shin's, Mok, or Tan Chor Siong's name. If cannot, search mine la.
8. Then you click on their name.
9. You should see a list of subjects on one of the details. Click all of them ONE BY ONE. Every time you click, a pop up will ask you to enrol/register the subject. Just click yes. Anything just ask me.

1. The schedule of FYP sessions and the thesis format are found in our course email.

2. There is an FYP briefing on the ~~22nd~~(postponed to) 29th of January, 2010 at DK1, from 2 to 4 pm. This is because Dr Say is taking his students to the hospital for a visitation. Dr Hii and Dr Loo are present for the briefing.

3. No Fermentation Technology lab AND no Bioinfo lab on Week 1.

Well, since Mokky had post up some interesting pictures, why not I add on some onto the gallery while trying not to divulge my progress, hehe...

Okay, first of all, we get do some sampling around the Kampar campus area - the ex-tin mining secondary habitat. It is an extremely interesting area for research and sight-seeing, especially the extra-large servings of "cake", aka cow dung/牛粪.

One of our sampling sites is a home for a immensely huge Mimosa species, not the ordinary M. pudica/含羞草. Let the pictures do the talking (photos credits to Mike):

The size of this plant is about knee-height. No kidding. Like the normal M. pudica, the leaves close up upon touch. It is called the Mimosa pigra.

This is a closed-up view. See the menacing thorns? Much longer and more compared to ordinary "shy grass".

This "tree" is taller than me. It is also the plant shown before - M. pigra. Huge leh. Even Dr Choo was in aghast when he witnessed this unreal plant.

Now, the other sampling site:

We were sampling around the bushes until we saw this hole. This is not the only hole, mind you. There are no less than 10 holes around the bushy mound. The guards told us sightings of monitor lizards and pythons and cobras... we were like WTFREAK?!?! The hole is one of the entrance of a nest - probably a reptilian, a monitor lizard perhaps?, due to the leathery egg shells we found near the hole as shown in the next photo:

These are some gel images taken during the course of my FYP, no description is given since it is "highly classified", hihi.

FYI, before doing FYP, we only do once or twice of gels, and barely once PCR. Now, we do almost 2 PCRs per day, run about 2-3 gels per day, do DNA extraction about 2-3 times per week (regardless of gel extraction or soil DNA extraction). Now we feel nauseous whenever we hear the word "gel" and "PCR". God bless all FYP students...

Note: The gel images above were taken using a gel visualizer which is equipped with an EXPENSIVE camera. Too bad it was stolen last week. Wish the culprit would be apprehended and the camera returned. The photos taken by it were of high quality. Now we are resorted to another slightly inferior gel visualizer, Mike, don't get all fired up when you read this coz I know you abhor that thing a lot. lol. Till then...

The image is good, why?? Coz the ladder is very clear and good, haha... (from my senior, most FYP students will come to run gel with ladders only... haha)

Other bands seem very faint... Why?? Lane 2 actually use same sample as previous two gels, but they seem different... Why??

Anyone can answer me?? Hehe...

Discussion:

- Thinner gel better, coz you can see more bands for Figure 2 (which is thinner gel)

- Smaller EZ Vision volume (loading + staining solution) is better, coz less dark area for Figure 2

- 3% gel not easy to cast, coz there is some "condong" bands at lane 6 and 7 in Figure 2, which is caused by uneven gel solidification

- FYP not finish yet... :) + :(

P/S: Hope to see other interesting results... Hehe...

The Big Thing

The last big thing we had where the entire course is involved is the T-shirt design. Now, shouldn't we do something big again to let our years in Utar immortalized as a beautiful memory?

What some of us have in mind is to make SKETCHES/DRAMAS/MOVIE CLIPS . Now before you start to say anything, here is a simple thing to do: Go to the polls (scroll up to view the poll and vote).

The plan is to have 1 major drama that involves the entire course, probably by featuring us (in a condensed/compact version) from week 1 to the exam week, stressing on Biotech course as a whole and perhaps symptoms of CSUS.

There will be other sub-dramas just for entertaining purposes.

When the voting shows clear indication of positivity, then I will list down the crew/posts for the dramas. Also, there will be a blog post for brainstorming/brainwriting for ideas.

Show your support. As a Biotechie, we are known for our integrity and cooperation.

15 Malaysia

Ok, I know it isn't a post on anything pertaining to our course BUT, but but, as a Malaysian, we should be a part of this too. A part of what? A part of this upcoming event - the release of 15 Malaysia!

What is it?
It is the a project consisting of 15 short movie clips pioneered by Pete Teo which features the same cast from Malaysian Artist For Unity (MAFU) Video, Here in My Home.

Who are the stars?
Not only local artistes are involved, even politicians, yes, real, breathing, politicians, are involved. Here are some TOP names among them: Nik Aziz (fuiyoh, never expect him to be involved), Khairy Jamaluddin, Namewee/Wee Meng Chee, Liow Tiong Lai etc.

What is the plot?
As expected, it surrounds racial discrimination but nothing sensitive. It encompasses bribery (always a hot cake), how to conduct halal cooking(it is freaking humourous), freedom of expression, party-hopping (recently hot), Malaysian football(...) , Islamic banking.

Where can I watch it/read about it for more info?
So far, you can visit any sites on the google search hits. I suggest this one. The homepage for the movies is here.

IMA Lab tests and Lab Briefing

Notice #1 - IMA Lab Test

There are TWO lab tests for IMA. The first one on next Wednesday while the second one is on the following Wednesday.

The info for first lab test:

Date: WEEK 12, Wednesday, 19/8/09
Time: 8 am, during lecture hour

Scope of emphases:

- conversion SI unit
- lab apparatus etc.

Important Notices

1. For the FYP lab briefing/management guidelines briefing on the 21st of August, it is CANCELLED, due to PTPTN briefing, until further notice.

2. The lab orientation on the 28th of August is still on.

3. For students doing dry lab, your are required to go for the lab briefing just in case you are required to use the labs. This was told by Dr Wong. As for the lab orientation on 28th, you can just ignore it BUT if your FYP title needs to use any labs, then go for the briefing for the specific lab as shown in the notice in the previous blog post.

4. For the IMA lab test, the scope of the test encompasses from FAAS, GC to HPLC. Since Dr Teh said she might ask some "analytical/general questions" such as basic instrumentation use/general rules in using such instruments (expect questions on significant figures and instrumental errors), so just get yourself prepared. However, she is still indeterminate about the scope yet. So, you are also at least required to know the basics of UV-Vis and FT-IR as well, but no need so detail.

5. Again, for IMA lab test, please bring your own graph paper. REMEMBER, because none is provided on that day. This is from Dr Ramani.

Due to the volleys of reports, assignments and tests (let's call this RATs, since science people adore short forms so much until we have problems in remembering the original full forms), this blog is left to fallows. Ok, what about some something to share which resonates in most of our hearts?

With all the RATs haunting us, we kinda developed symptoms that frequently relapse in every semester. Let's group all these related symptoms under one name: Chronic Stressed Utarian Syndrome, CSUS in short (like I said we science freaks love acronym so much), pronounced as "scissors".

Here is the analysis of CSUS:

Symptoms (mild)
1. Insomnia
2. Short-term memory
3. Flu-like symptoms, let's call it H_utN_ut (UT as in UTAR), or "Hut Nut".
4. Paranoia
5. Trouble in focusing
6. Lost of time perception
7. Depression
8. Immensely strong urge to play (eg. L4D spree)
9. Slight insanity
10. Frequent Facebooking
11. PTS - Pre-/Post-Test Syndrome - extremely crazy before and after tests
12. Irritability
13. Extremely papyrophobic (fear of papers)
14. Very sensitive ears (to collect test hints/tips)
15. Unusually high affinity for beds and pillows
16. Telling extremely lame jokes
17. Laugh at anything, even it is not funny at all
18. Drama/Movie spree

Symptoms (severe)
1. Hallucination
2. Schizophrenia
3. Incoherent speech

Causes
1. Abuse of brain power
2. Incessant RATs
3. Unrelenting lecturers
4. Universiti Tak Ada Rehat - it says it all

Treatment
1. Gaming
2. Shopping
3. Eating
4. Sleeping
5. Taking phytochemicals that allow a person to disconnect from the harsh world and cruel reality
6. God's blessings, lots of them
7. Less RATs
8. Facebooking

Another version of this disease is the ASUS, not the computer, but Acute Stressed Utarian Syndrome, which is much serious but the symptoms are of shorter duration.

So far, this syndrome is still under investigation. Probable tell-tale signs are:
1. Shock
2. Zombie-ness
3. Loss of hope

Dr. Piotr Wozniak was right. Everyone including YOU can enjoy the blessing of empowering knowledge. Believe it or not, there are simple defined methods towards rock-solid knowledge based on science and facts. All you need to do is......

Be thirsty and hungry for knowledge - In order to acquire knowledge, you must first have strong desire for them. If you have a rather weak and fading motivation for them, you can just forget about reading the following lines.
Know what you really need to know - The earlier you realize this, the faster you could blow up your entire shelf of ill-picked books. Extermination of books containing none of your area of studies should be executed right away.
Identify the "true" sources of information - Have you discovered the power of the internet? Oops..., WRONG question! I should have asked: Have you utilized your new-found knowledge to its full extent? It is very true that loads of information can be found throughout the web, textbooks, journals, etc. But, you need to seriously pick only information of the highest priority.
Repeat to remember - Please........please DO NOT trust theories claiming that you can develop long-lasting memory effortlessly. Everything etched in your long-term memory must somehow be constantly rehearsed from time to time. Otherwise, they will sooner or later be blown away by the wind.
Use imagery - That part of our brain called the visual cortex, the brain center that processes visual stimuli can greatly reduce our learning time in areas especially anatomy, chemistry (yup phytochemistry too!), biology and many more. Now you know why "A picture is worth thousands of words."

Most of you might say, "Siapa tak tahu cara-cara ini. Kita dah tahu awal-awal lagi. Cikgu dah lama ajar kita semua." Think again. How many of us have truly realized and acquired these HOW TO LEARN skills? So...., what are you guyz waiting for? Bring your hidden-for-too-long brilliant, intelligent nature to life NOW! Though some of you might be skeptical about these, but hey, you have got nothing to lose. In the end, you would either gain SOMETHING or NOTHING.

Well, this is the final year, the only last chance we are going to see each other wearing the same, symbolic shirt hanging around in the campus. Instrumental Presentation

Hey there, guys, here are some important news pertaining to our Instrumental presentation, which starts on WEEK 5.

1. Hand in your hardcopy of slides on the day you are presenting.

2. PLEASE prepare 2 copies of your slides - 1 copy is the one you use for presentation, another copy is a copy with all the information you are going to present, including the points and elaborations that are not in the slide. This is because the topics presented might be coming out in the exam. We need to pool in all the topics presented by other groups so that we can learn information that is not found in your own group.

3. I have assigned different people in all 3 groups to help copy down the Q&A sessions between the presenters and the lecturer since the questions asked might also come out in the exam, as mentioned by Dr Teh. The "Chosen Ones" are:

4. The presentation sequence is according to one's topic. Every tutorial session will have 4 groups presenting. For Group 2, ALL TOPICS have been chosen, including the previously unpicked questions. VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGES

For next Monday and Tuesday (1-2 June 2009), classes in SE block are unavailable. Two of our subjects are affected. The amendments are as follows:

1. Molecular Cloning and Gene Expression

The afternoon class is brought forward to 9-10 am, DK 3. This is mentioned in the previous post. So, the afternoon class is cancelled - that means you can go home earlier. However, this change only applies for next Monday. The following Mondays' molecular cloning lectures will resume the afternoon 4-5 pm slot. In other words, ONLY for next Monday, the molecular cloning class is moved to 9-10 am (DK 3), not 4-5 pm. But for the rest of the semester, the class will be as usual - 4-5 pm in SE108.

2. Principles and Application of Phytochemistry

The 4-5 pm lecture in SE110 for next Tuesday (2 June 2009) is CANCELLED. Again, this only applies for next Tuesday. Whether it is replaced or not, we have to wait for further notice.

ABOVE ALL, please attend the Monday Molecular Cloning class at 9-10 am since there will be an important briefing by our beloved Dr Tee.

PRACTICAL CLASSES

For Instrumentatal Methods and Analysis, the practical is on Week 2. For Molecular Cloning, NO LAB on first week. Further info is available during the Monday briefing. For Phytochem, the lecturer is not yet reachable. So, wait for Dr Tee's first lecture a.k.a "The Briefing" on Monday.

That was ONE of the very first things my mother taught me when I was a kid. Lately, I have been bugged by this question: "Has she been HONEST to me all these years?". As you all know, ONE thing leads to ANOTHER. As a result, an even greater question struck my mind: "If the answer is NO, then why did she lie to me? And is she still lying to me right on my face?".

I thought long and hard for hours, days and even months. Finally, the ultimate cure to my thirst for the answer to these GREAT questions has been revealed. She lied when she said.....

"Eat this, dear. I'm not hungry." when she placed her portion of rice into my bowl so that I would have a fuller meal;
"Drink it, dear. I'm not thirsty." when she handed me her glass of cold water so that I would no longer be thirsty;
"Go back to sleep, dear. I'm not tired." when she spent the whole night mending my torn old school bag so that I would not be a laughing stock at school;
"Take it back, dear. I have enough money." when she refused to accept the money I earned from doing part-time jobs so that I would have enough money for myself;
"Don't cry, dear. I'm not in pain." when she was lying sick on the hospital bed with her chronic back pain so that my heart would not hurt so much seeing her like that.

And yes, she is still lying to me till today. After all these years, I have now realized that mother's UNCONDITIONAL love and sacrifices know NO BOUND indeed. She is after all, an ANGEL IN DISGUISE. Just one more thing before I end this. People, please ask yourselves this question (the greatest one of all): "Would we be able to do the same thing for our BELOVED mother in return EVER?".

Exam Schedule Part II

Exam schedule is out in the intranet. Not a good change. Not at all. Before, the time table s**ks. After, it also s**ks. I don't feel like posting the time table. My fingers feel heavy for every word I type. So... THREE WORDS: God bless us.

Nevermind. BT will never fall. Fact is a fact and we cannot change that. Time table is fixed and nothing much we can do BUT... BT can stand no matter what. We have been through the Killer Week 9/10 and we survived - amazingly. No matter how bad the arrangement is, as long as we are fellow BT's, we will walk down the path as strong as we can. Nothing can stop us.

If you mess with BT's, you are messing with a hive of bees. We never give up. We go for our target. We act as a swarm. We WON'T FAIL. Beef up ourselves! W-E C-A-N D-O I-T!!!

Our last day is pushed later to the 12 of May. Bad. But so what? If you want us to do so, then we fight till that day though we hate it. You will not break our spirit. Not our kiasu spirit.

Urgent - ATC

Here is an important concept for ATC:

The calculation of cell counting and step-by-step reasoning:

A x B x C x 10^4

"Divide total viable cell by 8 to get C" This is what the TA say. But Dr Lim say NO! In the test, whenever you are given a viable cell number, divide it with 4, not 8, to get average viable cell. Why 4? Because normally, we use only one chamber instead of both of them. In one chamber (see figure 1) there are 4 corners with 4x4 boxes. Each of them is 1mm (width) x 1mm (length) x 0.1mm (depth) = 0.1mm^3.

1. We need to calculate how many cells are present in only ONE of the corners (the corners are marked RED in Figure 1). Since there are 4 of them, you calculate all the viable cells in all 4 corners (like what we did in the lab), then divide by 4. Last time, we calculate for 2 chambers. So, 2 chambers x 4 corners = 8 corners. That's why we divide 8 for our last experiment. But in the test, please divide by 4. Because normally we use ONE chamber. Let's say we calculated 20 cells for all 4 corners. So, 20 cells /4 = 5 cells.

Then, 5 cells x 2 (dilution factor) = 10 cells.

2. Now, we get 10 cells. 10 cells refers to the number of cells, on the average, in ONE CORNER. But, how much is the volume of the cells is in ONE CORNER? According to the manual, the volume of 1 corner is 0.1 mm^3 (as calculated as above). But we don't want mm^3, we want ml! So, to change 0.1 mm^3 to ml, you need to divide 0.1 mm^3 by 10^3 . So,

(0.1 mm^3/10^3) x 1 ml = 1 x 10^-4 ml

The ml value is now 1 x 10^-4 ml. But how to get a conversion factor?

3. Still remember your microbiology? If you do a dilution of 10^-5 (the diluted value), your dilution factor is 10^5. Right? You just have to do this to get the factor: 1/(diluted value). So, 1/(10^-5) = 10^5. See? That's the dilution factor. In our case, to get the conversion factor, just do the same thing:

1/(converted value) = 1/(1 x 10^-4 ml) = 1 x 10^4 per ml or 10^4/ml.

TADAA!! Look carefully, your conversion factor's unit is PER ML, or /ml, because you divide 1 by millilitre (1/10^-4 ml).

4. When you get the 10 cells in step 1 & 2, you are only calculating for one corner, still remember? And 1 corner is 0.1 mm^3 or 1 x 10^-4 ml. So, what we want to know now is, how many cells are there in ONE MILLILITRE? To get that, you multiply 10 cells with the conversion factor (10^4/ml):

10 cells x 10^4/ml = 1 x 10^5 cells/ml

Yay. Now we are almost done. Now, the LAST STEP.

5. This step is VERY IMPORTANT. We didn't do this in the report. Now, what we want to know is how many VIABLE CELLS ARE IN THE WHOLE CULTURE. Just now, we only calculated how many viable cells in ONE CORNER per ml. To get the number of cells for the whole cell culture (in the T flask, or petri dish), just multiply with the total volume of the culture. Let's say the culture in the T flask is 20 ml. So, the total of viable cells in the whole cell culture is:

1 x 10^5 cells/ml x 20 ml = 2 x 10^6 cells (see that the unit ml is cancelled off)

So now, your answer is the unit of CELLS.

In short, the formula is:

A x B x C x 10^4/ml

where A is the TOTAL CELL CULTURE VOLUME
B is dilution factor
C is the average viable cell => total viable cells in all FOUR CORNERS divided by 4
and 10^4 is the conversion factor from mm^3 to 1 ml.

Just a slight modification from what you have learnt in the lab manual.

PS. Do the same thing for dead cell count. Good luck in your lab test!

PPS. For the unit of conversion factor, if you want to delete the "/ml", it is okay. Dr Lim allows this. But if you do that, you also have to delete the "ml" in the total cell culture volume (A). Otherwise, you will find that you can't get "cells" as the unit.

PPPs. Some more, the example above assumes that we use only 1 chamber. If the question specifies that we use TWO chambers (so got 8 corners), then you have to do one by one. DON'T SEKALI GUS count all and divide by 8 like what we did in our report. After you do both, plus the both answers to get the total cells. Although the answer is the same as dividing 8 , Dr Lim insists on doing separately. Go ask her why yourself.

hands r actually nothing but just deco to make her looks normal, head is the substitute of hands for her

sleep like a bamboo in high places during summer to avoid heat

sleeping style during winter...with additional layer which is also the lab coat and moral notes in this case

oh, she use straw to drink, same as human...

told u edi, lab coat is used as shelter for winter, so din wear in the lab. drinking in the lab somemore, means they dunno how to read signs at the door...

til then, more observations have to be conducted for more of the life-style of the new species

1. Molecular Biology
Dr Tee wants to remind you all that our EXAM (that means finals la) syllabus includes the un-tested ones in Test 1 PLUS nucleosome, chromatin and chromosomes section (though it is covered in Test 1)

2. Exam Schedule
For the exam schedule problem, we have met Dr Alan and he told us that DEA had just FINISH COLLECTING THE FEEDBACKS. So, they need time to process the feedback - wait, wait, don't get too agitated - and we have to do the FOUR LETTER WORD - WAIT.

The best case scenario is that we will get our answers by THIS WEEK. Note that I said BEST CASE SCENARIO, not WORST CASE SCENARIO.

Hence, everybody - bio-sapiens of Year 2 Sem 2 of Utar - keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best. Say your prayers according to your religious belief (if you lack one, then, um, just pray the way you think is appropriate la - UCB, don't look away, I know you are one of them). Do more good deeds this week, be nice to lecturers and don't skip class (find it hard to do that for this Thursday, ooops, I just didn't say that), maybe that might help us get through this predicament.

Just want to let you all know that we had done our best and so did Dr Alan.

A Wish For A Friend

I know everyone is busy with your assignments, tests and reports. However, there is something else you guys should pay attention to.

Of course, our dear friend Francis is not in the pink of health. It was said that he contracted some form of bacterial infection. Don't worry, guys, not dengue - at least that's what I heard.

I messaged him for probing his recent health. This is our little conversation:

Me (SMS) : How are you now? When are you going to be back?
Francis (SMS) : Still not really good. Most probably i only able 2 be back next week.
Me (SMS) : What kind of bacterial infection you got?
Francis (SMS) : The doctor doesnt say anything. I myself also quite blurr... (=.="")

Typical Francis. Doesn't even know how he fall ill.

Anyway, guys, with your sincerest heart you can offer, wish Francis to get well as soon as possible. It has been a long absence for him and we really miss him, don't we? I guess the lecturers miss him the most... Dr Gideon has been most lonely these days without Francis' visits... (no offense, buddy!)

Dr Kho, please be prepared. You haven't been through the fiercest cannonball attacks in history. Last week was nothing. When Francis returns and strikes back, be sure she is ready.

Shirt design update 3

Okay perhaps this might be my last design. I named it - Just ladybirds.

The sub-logo.

The shirt designing project is truely reaching it's climax. Basically I'd created the major front prints while min-zhin produces the logos and sub-prints. Some said we should fuse both the ideas, which I totally agree with. I'd sent all the designs to some of our coursemates and hopefully they will arrange the patterns their ways and then post it up here.

Wow.... that's all I could say after a long week without setting foot online (damn the dial-up). Really impressed with all the response. Good job people!

There a lot of designs and I loved them. Keep them, on the tee. Now, just a suggestion. I think we need a logo that really represents our batch of BT May 2007 session. The Kiasu Biosapiens logos that were designed on the previous blog posts are meant for, how should I say, the BIG FAMILY of BT, unless somebody don't like them. I think a personalized logo could be meaningful, that uniquely represent us - from the one and only batch. Here are some suggestions. If you don't like the idea, no prob, just shoot it down like you do in Counterstrike, Halo or Doom. No hard feelings. [click on pic to view full size/more details]

About the Chromosome thing Liang and Jynn mentioned, I suggest a new name for the chromosome (not God Chromo, or Godlike Chrome or ... ah, whatever) - Chromosome K(iasu), courtesy of Dr Tee for his "uniqueness" in speech and Greg for his "attentiveness" and "creativity". Chromosome K ("chromosome kiasu", in full) is the best name I came up with so far. Place this name on top of the gel electrophoresis or above the pic of a chromo (up to the designer) and it explains everything about why we are so "kiasu". Here are 2 suggestions based on colour difference:

Click on the words and view it at normal magnification. You can see some "interesting" words, or should I say Codes, in them.

LASTLY, HERE IS AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - PASS IT AROUND YOUR FRIENDS.

Wear RED SHIRT (I don't care pink, light red, tomato red, salsa red, blood red, maroon red, pinkish red, orangey red, reddish pink, pinky red, reddish red [?!], beef red, ruby red, sunset red, sunrise red, rose red, or hibiscus red) when lesson starts, which means on the 3RD OF FEBRUARY. Anyone who disobey will be in deep, red, hot soup! Haha...

** Seems no one had paid attention to Greg's desperado cryout... He suggested the "red shirt day" but no one bothers to give him anything, no comments, no replies, not even a banana skin or a rotten tomato... So, I "officially" announce the implementation of RSD, or Red Shirt Day as mentioned above.

Hi all, the first 3 designs are out. All the designs can be in collared shirt or printed tee form, depends on you guys and gals.

The first design is 'You name it we clone it' theme.

Looks something like this. Still in basic draft, colour and arrangement are still needed.

The second will be the 'kiasu chromosome'. Theme proposed by MZ - And the Kiasu spirit lives on- inspired by the electrophoresis experiment. One day our beloved God MZ accidentally electrophorised his DNA during Principle of biotech's lab session and the result turned out to be as below. It has been kept as top secret until recently his laptop was hacked.

Of course we cannot make the shirt as colourful as above, but if the design is accepted we can grayscale the graphic and it'll look nice too, as if being watched under UV light.

This is my another design, called 'the biotechs'. Personally I like this design as it is cool and sleek, though it looks like a tee that you would commonly find at Sg wang.

Biotech May07 Logo

This is a small update on our kiasu shirt. FYI we normally need logo when creating something that symbolises our community. As a result I'd founded a logo for the biotech0507 society.

The design is still in its larva stage. Perhaps the coloured version will be submitted again when the final draft is confirmed. Suggestion for the colouring is utmost welcome.

Your Class on your Shirt

First of all, I would like to thank to all those who have participated in the recent polling. The result is obvious: use this blog as a salad bowl - all in one.

Now, we have a new issue - for FES Setapak future biotechnologists - which is much more interesting. Do you want all the memories in the class etched on a shirt where you can wear it to show off when you go for outing etc? Here is your chance to give your piece of thought to design our class tee.

The main areas to cover:

1. What kind of textile? Cotton? Nylon? Lace (as suggested by GRQ)? Semitransparent?

2. What is background colour for the shirt? Black? Blue? Pink?

3. Collared or collarless?

4. What deco/images/designs/words etc you want to put on it?

5. etc. etc.

If possible, draw your design - electronically or hand-drawn - and send in for scrutiny. You guys can either submit it to me aka laoban, ren quan aka appa, siew ting aka lala, or ah liang aka lengzhai. Basically, let your imaginations run wild - but not so wild until you don't even dare to wear the shirt on street la.

If you don't want to participate that dedicatedly - due to lack of artistic nature, shyness etc - you are always welcome to provide suggestions for the 4 questions above or add in your extra opinions in the comments section.

Please participate and the deadline is the week after CNY - between the Monday and Friday of Week 4.

老乡,我又上来啦

各位老乡我又来啦
在这里我想澄清一下
我完全没有想把kiasu spirit关掉的意思
之前说要开一个bbs是觉得说kiasu spirit是个比较轻松搞笑的地方
然后主要还是让大家po一点生活点滴
所以假如要进行和学弟妹们的text book交易是不是另外开设一个平台会更好
然后加上大家对kiasu spirit的支持程度也似乎有点不是很热情
通常po blog或reply的都是来来去去几只小猫
不过本大人把经营权pass给minzhin大神之后我又似乎觉得kiasu spirit"活"了过来
所以应该就是所谓经营不善的状况吧
现在就像请了一个很厉害很厉害的CEO那样
haha
so我还是想在这里呼吁一下我亲爱的老乡们多多支持我们的kiasu spirit因为里面有很多我们的回忆要多多po blog哦~~本大人在遥远的他乡会常常上来和大家打声招呼的

2 Hearts Beating In Sync, or Separately?

I wanted to do a poll on this but I prefer people to leave comments since we all can hear out our opinions. Here is the thing, do you all want:

1) FES blog and Kampar blog to run separately, or
2) We join forces and fight for the greater good?

My point of view is:

This blog is created to bring all of us together. We share interesting things in our lives; we laugh, weep and surprise ourselves by reading the same page everyone else in this course is reading - this BLOG. We might see each other in class in every other day but, tell me, do you know every interesting thing that occur in the lives of the friends around you? You wouldn't have know it but to miss a few anecdotes your friends want or dying to share with you while you are not beside them. All of these sharing stuff are great and meaningful, especially when we are going to bid adieu in about a year. But, it comes at only one and only ONE condition: we transcend the limitations set up by the year we are in, the session we are in, and the place we are in. In other words: we share as members, or rather "species" of the huge BT family of Utar regardless of which campus or which year.

Of course, we also want to know what's up with the brethren and sisters in Kampar. I don't feel right when this blog is going to be infested with molds and mosses when we graduated. I hope it would carry this healthy "kiasu" spirit down to our "successors" down the Utar BT lineage, the subspecies Homo sapiens kiasuensis.

ONE HEART beating: it's life but too weak;

TWO HEARTS beating: it's life, strong but unstable and chaotic;

TWO HEARTS beating TOGETHER: it's life, strong and lasts twice as long.

This is my point of view. What's yours?

Here are a few important messages:

1. PLEASE COME on next Monday. I will be giving out notes, collecting class funds, distributing schedules for lab, tests and replacements. I will also give out lab manual. Lecturers want us to read up the manuals before going for lab. If you guys didn't come and somehow didn't get the lab manual, the notes or other stuff, I cannot help you then. I try to do my best to satisfy everyone but if you guys don't cooperate, then what I do is futile.

We all are on the same boat, if we want to move forward, we row together, don't sit at one corner and make holes on the boats. Or else we will be wondering why we are rowing the boat at the bottom of the ocean.

2. Check your time table at the intranet and see Monday. Surprise right? NO CLASS. However, that's an error. I have confirmed with the office. There is still a lecture starting on the 11. Check the time table I sent you all and ask you guys to circulate during the mid-December. That' the correct one.

Anyway, see you guys on Monday.And remember your saman/summon - RM 10.

There are good news and bad news:

GOOD NEWS:

For those who are concerned with the classes in Week 3 - the Chinese New Year week, there is NO LAB for any of the 3 core subjects. I got this info after bugging the lecturers involved. As for lectures, it is confirmed that NO LECTURES will be going on in that week itself for GENETICS and MB. As for ATC/PTC, it is not confirmed as she said she will inform us when class starts.

BAD NEWS:

As expected, extra holidays come with replacements - this is inevitable. For genetics, almost every week's Saturday is used for replacements - as well as tests - while for other subjects, it is yet to be confirmed. For MB, Dr Tee said there will not be replacements but tests will be conducted to compensate for the lost hours instead.

Leave a message if you have any queries.

You think the bad news ends here? Think again as people say: bad things come in pairs but never the good ones - 祸不单行，福不双至.

Hence:

When lessons starts, please be sure to fill your wallet and purse with

RM 10

for class fund. I have already got the notes for the 3 core subs. Thanks. Do not forget or else you get the notes on your own.

Don't know why, suddenly think of Doraemon. Very fond of him when I was small and I just found back that feeeling during Y2S1 final exam. Haha... still remember the crazy action of downloading and the feeling of enjoy when watching his movie during study week.

I am sure that many of you watch the comic before and like it very much. Surely I do not suffer the same situation with Nobita who always being bullied and do not need the gadjets from Doraemon's pocket (maybe the magical pen that can write all the answer), but I like it for its fantasy, especially the time machine that can travel back and forth time.

This is one of the most accepted ending of Doraemon;

That time, when I was still small, I really hope that Doraemon will never leave, forever stay with Nobita, and also my heart.

有没有想象过，50-70年代的我们究竟长什么样子呢？我猜，大家温习应该也非常累，非常无聊了。好啦，今天本少牺牲一下，娱乐娱乐大家！对哦，策彦也有一份子参与。吓吓！

今天k书k到晕陀陀，打开抽屉要拿风油解头疼时，很惊喜的，小叮当竟然从中跳了出来！

“读书读无聊吧。”叮当问我。

“对啊！”

“要不要去见见你们的seniors啊？”叮当甩一甩眼。

“什么？我们的seniors？”惊讶的问道

。

“对，60年代的seniors！”叮当兴奋的回答。

=.= 这个搭时光机来的机械猫到底懂不懂UTAR的历史啊，什么60年代你他妈的UTAR都还不知踪影呢，更何况有seniors？

别管那么多啦，我就跟你去，看你怎么和我哈啦。

跳入屉子里，叮当按呀按不知在调些什么的，一会儿哗啦啦作响，坐着的时光机连让我眨眼的分秒都不让就光速的飞到60年代了。

吓！！！！还真的有UTAR喔！-傻眼-

东看西看，还可真的是FES Campus！叮当拉着我的手奔到食堂去，然后指了一些人物给我看。“这些就是你的seniors了！”

吓！！！！我们的seniors？怎么那么像。。。第一个看到的就是:

怎么这个人那么像Francis大哥的？！那飞机式发型，还IN到顶点呢！哇咔咔咔。你看他还以他那招牌灿烂笑容迎接我呢。

随着Francis一同的学生，手上拿着biotech 60's的名单，还有大大的书包。他俩谈得非常激烈，一直到他转过头来……

Min-zhin吗？天啊，如果给现在的他看到有个那么像他的senior，不知道会不会学一学他那郭富城的造型呢？呵呵。

接着，远方传来了阵阵不陌生的笑声。这声音，莫非…………

果然是siew ting啊，哦，60年代的她，蛮有妈妈的味道。-暗笑- XD

三个女生走过来。这画面真的非常熟悉。好像Winnie, Peak Mun和Joanne三人的身影。仔细的看。哇靠！

超Vintage（古典）的！没想到以60年代的造型，她们三个还是那么靓呢！

一个女孩很快的走入食堂。

“Tze Hann，等等我呀。”听到一个男生叫到。

“慢到半死啊你。我肚子饿了啦！”叫Tze Hann的那个女生一拳打在那男生的头。好可怜哦 >.<

突然，另一个很熟悉的人走过来，手上拿着First Aid箱。看了看，竟然是……

Ah Piang?！天啊，相似度超过90八仙，而且还，那么留了一头帅气的长发？哇PIANG啊！

另外三个女孩又参与了。

我猜，应该是Ai Sieng，Kim Poay和Ah Yi了。不可能不可能，他们人都在21世纪呢。怎么可能会，而且Ah Yi的家传苍蝇墨镜，我可非常认得也。

后来接二连三的，很多熟面孔陆续看见。

左看右看上看下看，怎么看都好像K昏书了的Jynn也。这才是，名副其实的古装Jynn吧!

那应该不会像莫少吧？哈哈哈哈哈哈，那个服装还有头发，简直正到歪了！后头跟着他的，应该没有其他人了，一定是她，吓吓！

和Vien有几分相似度。接下来………………

我的妈呀，这个非洲留学生，怎……怎……怎么那么像策彦呢？

后来，远远就听见有人哼着麦克杰胜（Michael Jackson)的歌，而且从远处一眺，很像他本人也！

＝＝。。。在他的utar ID那儿看到，名字叫 -- Michael Jeffreyson.

接下来，两个身穿西装的人走过来。嗯，看来很像教授。

吓？！Professor Go竟是他的名字？我还郭晋安跟他Go go go呢！

这应该不是那个整天调戏人家，笑话不怎么好笑那个Dr.Greg吧。很像我的死党贾豪，嘻嘻！

不行了，我真的快疯掉了！这是６０年代的utar，还是我们全都跑到６０年代去罢呢？ｐｉｕ　ｐｉｕ　ｐｉｕ呀！

等一下，如果真的大家都跑到60年来，那怎么不见我们的blog帮主木子姐呢？

反锁

大家都试过被反锁吧？多数的人都是在外面开不到门，因为门的把手卡住了。但是我和子星却在今天被反锁在房间内！！！没听过咧。人生罕有的机会。当时，我在房间里打机（刚完成report）. 然后，子星进来我的房间问我report的东西。问毕，他就迈步离开房间，而我就继续电玩。陡然间，子星，冒出一句：“咦，门怎么开不到？”初时，我以为他在耍我，所以我没理他。然后，他接二连三的“咦”，开始令我有点担心。于是，我去开门。咦？门的把守是可以转。但是就是开不到！大件事！

接着，我们叫在外边的ah biang 用锁匙开门。可是，我们知道门并不是被锁，而是卡住了。我们用了尺、剪刀、刀、牛油刀、吉他绳、晒衣架，都不行。搞到要叫隔壁的屋主亲戚来替我们破门而入。

基本上我们家里能转的东西都会坏。比如厕所的花洒的把手，厕所的门。。。之前的反锁，都是在外面被反锁，不是在里边。现在，我们在等，看哪个倒霉的会被反锁在厕所内，然后他又在做“打生意”又不够厕纸，家里又没人。

我们一班BT友一大早就浩浩荡荡的到七星级餐厅聚合，赖死不走。吃饱的，也兀自坐在那儿阻碍人家做生意。就算拼了命也要霸着位子。为了什么？就为了一睹宗伟打赢仗的风采。然，尽入眼帘的却是一次又一次的失误，一次又一次的打击 - 是心灵上的打击，就像球拍一阵阵在心上捶打，仿佛在空中来回受击的不是羽球，而是灰色的心。一开始大伙儿的热情，须臾，就被浇灭了。第一场的结局，已经隐约决定了定局。

虽然，他败了。虽然，我们隔天考试心情会因此而受影响- 我们也可借此赖他使我们成绩不好。终究他还是解了我们奥林匹克的奖牌荒，值得奖励。无论如何，他也是尽了力。破了的杯子，从另一角度看，它仍是圆的。凡事要乐观。

银牌金牌，都是奖牌。您仍是最好的！马来西亚以你为荣！

I have relayed the information from the DSA and the University's authority that all of us should wear our ID tags. This requirement is further accentuated due to several burglaries in the past semesters. However, more of these unfortunate cases keep occurring even now. Maybe some of you are asking why the Uni is not catching people without IDs. Well, because some "educated barbarians" acted violently against the guards when they were stopped by the guards for inspection of their ID. So, the enforcement and execution are on hold pending evaluation. However, there is a speculation saying that something even more bizarre than outsiders stealing our stuffs. 2 proverbs to describe: 1. Harapkan pagar, pagar makan padi; and 2. 监守自盗. It is a somewhat plausible as well. Cannot rule out the possibilities of the "enforces" from breaching the rules. I hope you know what I mean by "enforcers". Anyway, now we do not have any solid evidence about who is the real culprit. Hence, just a word of caution:

pizza hut

haha, i seldom type in english but typing in chinese is quite troublesome, and i'm kinda lazy after typing the blog bout the urine lab. hehe, of coz is not my mandarin-level problem, haha, it's becoz i'm so lazy to change the words one by one sometimes.

Today, Voon Chai The Wild-Animal suggested to go to pizza hut in genting klang on sunday night. However, we were so eager to try on the new pizza and decided to have it on today, haha, pity Voon Chai coz she will be back to her hometown. She "begged" us to change it on sunday.

And we as her best best frens, (or mayb "pig and dogs frens", lol), we left her 2 choices:

Choice 1:
We finally reached an agreement that we will accompany her again to have pizzas on sunday night with a condition that she pays for the pizzas. And as a sincere apology to her (as we go for pizzas on friday), we promise her to bring more frens to accompany her to pizza hut. (wa, so nice of us!)

Choice 2:
We suggested her on how to cheat her family to go back on tomorrow morning, such as discussion with frens on the assignments, , preparing for the exam next week, replacement class and so on, and she's finally did it after struggling for soooo long time! I think her brother and her share a similarity, which is EASY TO BE CHEATED! LOL!

So, she said she will join us today (so tat she doesn't have to pay the bills on sunday), however, we as her best best frens felt so sorry for her to delay her to go back to her hometown and taught her to cheat her family, so we decided to change the plan back to SUNDAY! LOL!!! yeah, y not sunday? she doesn't have to go back late and cheat her family, and we can have free pizzaS on sunday! hahaha...it's so obvious tat we r just kidding, (yala, we r so good, wont bully frens and cheat frens 1), but tis Voon Chai The Wild-Animal, she really believe tat we will go on sunday! SWT

But lastly, she ended up not joining us coz she's not feeling well. however, we will b ready n stand-by 24 hours (but only ppl r ready, money is not ready, keke) to accompany her to go to pizza hut on other days as a "compensation" to her, hehe. wah, tis kind of good frens, where to find o?

We have asked many ppl to join us, too bad, i think none of them r crazy enough to join us, so end up only 7 ppl going. =.="

Tis is actually wat have they eaten, erm, haven include all actually, coz it's impossible to include all of them in a single photo, and the waiter can't wait to clean the dishes although they haven finish eating due to lack of plates i think...so u all can imagine la...haha

got so much money to show off but din belanja us...

The total amount is RM97.30. hhmm, hann, chee shin and me only had a RM1.80 pepsi each, together with 15% tax, 3 of us only use up around RM6.40, but we r so generous tat we r willing to devide RM97.30 by 7, RM13.90 each. wah, we r sooo good!

今天的physio lab真是“尿味熏天”
我们竟然要为尿量temperature, volume, density & chloride-ion level
为了公平起见，每一组都要派出一位“尿者”组成“尿家将”
很不巧的，子星那组就只有他一位男生，不是派他还会派谁？公平吧！哈哈

尿大螂：jefferey哥。哇，几“淫”一下的眼神

尿二螂：mok哥。笑得好开心灿烂哦！（mok：“喵喵，那是因为做了一件伟大的事嘛！喵喵）
尿三螂：chee shin哥。从艺术角度看，这张照片其实是拍得很自然很写真的，哈哈（这位家伙很不客气地在昨晚吃了榴莲，如果你们在lab嗅到榴莲味，还是验的尿有榴莲味，就是拜这位家伙所托啦！

尿四螂：han chuen哥。也是要从艺术角度看，那种隐隐约约带点“犹抱琵琶半遮面”的感觉，好比只拍单调的正面来得更出色！（哇，原来我是这么有艺术天分的！哈哈！）

在跟尿大螂拍照时，我们赫然发现他的眼睫毛实在是太长了，真叫人羡慕死

在lab结束之前还有一个小小的Lost and found插曲，有人拾到了一支笔和一把minnie mouse的Q版尺（原来，biotech的人是爱Q版的东西）。哈哈，可惜的是，本人只是个professional的摄影师，拍完这东西后就拿着本人的手机走了，换句话说，此物的主人，你是要去sd的其中一间Lab自己找，他们大多数是在sd106，但谁知会有人手多帮它们换风水位？哈哈，所以，所谓的lost n found，是u lost it，we found it n left it，n u have to find again，哈哈

The Chronicles of Mok-ia

*tis blog is copy n paste from min-zhin. Since he's away to PJ until sunday and so eager to publish tis blog, he asks me to help him to post tis. So, all folks, as a professional writer, dun misunderstand, i'm not a copymiaomiao, hehe* --Ting

Believe in fate? Well this is a real life story, I mean, real life stor-ies... It happens, not once, but TWICE, to the ever famous ah mok. Here are how they started off:

Situation 1:

In Year 1 Semester 1 in FES, some friends and I went to PJ to collect our scholarship verification stuff. So, though very reluctant and tired, not to mention we had to hurry back to setapak for another lesson (it is computer studies, if I am not mistaken. See? We are sooooooo 伟大, computer studies also din ponteng. "Geng" ler.), we still have to go to PJ or else our scholarship will be soaked in the soup (erm, translation of 泡汤). If people ask why you fail to obtain your scholarship and your reason is: lazy to go to PJ, it will make you look very very stupid, men-siasui-kan diri and idiotic. Ok, enough of our story, let's get back to ah miao, er, I mean mokky miao.

So, we went to the admission office once we arrived at PJ. We showed the officers our IDs and stuffs and waited for the letters and so on. Then, suddenly, at the corner of our observant eyes, we managed to capture something very familiar. It was so familiar until it burnt our eyes badly. We saw a very old, raggy, dilapidated, very 残 and very 可怜 pencil box sitting all by itself at the counter. It was yellow and striped. Looks kinda familiar. Then, we look into each others eyes and it clicked - ah mok's long lost friend. To verify it, we checked for the unique label of mok's pencil case - a cute, but very dirty and sooty dog ornament - and eureka, there it was, hanging helplessly and abandoned for almost like, what, half a year??? Yea, mok lost it for 1 whole semester plus the semester break, so it made up about half a year. Pity the pencil case and the lonely dog, abandoned by the heartless owner. Haha!

Then, due to our kind-heartedness, we requested to examine the pencil case from the admission officer. Surprisingly, the officer was SOOOOO obliging and more than happy to give away the pencil case to us without suspecting us. Yala, siapa nak curi barang kuno yang uzur tu.... Or maybe that pencil had been an eye sore to the officers for half a year but they dunno where to place it coz they afraid the owner might come back anytime. After we secured the pencil case, we wore gloves and prepared the dissection kit. First, using a scalpel, we cut an opening on the case (no la, we just pulled the zip). Then, we were surprised. The pencil case was ........ EMPTY. The only surviving organs were a broken pencil and some eraser dust. Poor lil pencil case.

In order to accumulate more good deeds (积多一点德), we decided to take back to setapak so that we could confront the pencil case with its heartless, cruel owner (对峙). Of course, the owner was so happy when he saw his pencil case. At first, we thought he still missed his old pencil case and would not lose it again. But no, we were soooo wrong. This, would take us to another story.

Situation 2:

As we thought mokky will take good care of his pencil case, actually mokky is trying to find a suitable time to abandon his long time 伴侣 again. So, the following crime was documented where the mastermind of the crime was none other than the notorious ah mok:

Motive : To get rid of the old friend so that he could get a better, newer and prettier one

He pretended to lost his pencil case in the bus and he thought he could lose it once and for all. But, when we learnt that he lost his pencil case again, we grew suspicious. Since he had past records of losing his pencil case, we wanted to ensure that this time he didn't really do it on purpose. So, we kept bugging him to retrieve his pencil case. Finally, he gave up and started to look for his precious case. He knew he left it in the bus (because he did it on purpose). At first, he asked for hao xue's favour to retrieve his case. But hao xue did not hitch the bus. So, all he could do was wait till the next morning. And guess what? The bus driver still kept his pencil case! Ah Mok looked (note that I highlighted, bold-ed and italicised the word "looked") happy and relieved as he was given back the pencil case. I don't know whether he was really happy or just beginning to think of another plan to lose his pencil case. If he does so, we will be watching his back closely.

*the following paragraphs are added by me. But sorry to say tat, u all will notice the BIG BIG BIG difference level of english, ie. University-GOD level (min-zhin's english) vs Kindergarten KID level (ah ting's english @ man-glish =.=), lol*--Ting

During the lab today, a rectangular and old pencil case with TWO LITTLE CUTE BEARS design on top of it caught my eyes. However, wat shocked me most is after knowing the owner of the pencil case. haha, let u all have a look at the pencil case 1st.

Wah, the pencil case is sooo hard to open, really HIGH-SECURITY

Take note of the "oxidized" pencil case. The brown colour are rust. As a professional reporter, hehe, i just took a short time and manage to know the story bout it. the pencil case is used since primary school, hhmm, the owner is from STPM, 10+ years already!!! According to the owner's frens, the owner once claimed tat the pencil case is actually given by a teacher to him, thus he's unwilling to throw it. wah, so loyal to his teacher!

And the owner of tis pencil case is Kok Wei! a tall and seem-like-steady guy like him use a pencil case with two little cute bears, haha!!! mokky miao, pls learn from him and stop thinking of abandoning ur pencil case la. U should feel proud n lucky to have a pencil case like tat. The best part of it is it can protect the pendrives inside it for so long until it returns to ur hand again! (For the readers info, there r 3 pendrives inside it when it's lost on the bus. hehe, r u feeling a bit regret for not helping him to search for his pencil case?)

management lecture

今天的management lecture超无聊

没想到我特地迟到了她还比我迟开始 =.="

由于过于无聊

今天的木子和我又发颠了

今次的目标转移到biomed的丽婷和思涵

杰作一：

思涵这小孩子把电话放在桌上，被木子“借”用了一下，寄放在身为“保险箱”的我

呵呵，原本又要讲她风骚的照片作为wallpaper

怎知，木子和我竟然输给没有bluetooth和infrared的手机

我们无法把照片transfer到她手机，不用说，计划泡汤！唉！

结果就只有在她的wallpaper写了“死小孩，你的手机又被偷啦”

然后又偷偷放回原位

这位小孩还真好骗，

当我问木子该在wallpaper写些什么字，

木子很大声地说：“死小孩”，她还很大反应又很快地反过来瞪着我们

害到我措手不及的收了她手机，还以为她会看到，结果我们担心多了，哈哈

面对着好骗的她，木子和我笑到弯腰了，

在我们的狡辩“我们终于骗到丽婷的hp了”下，她竟然一点都没怀疑是我们拿了她手机

直到她看到wallpaper的字还说：“我还以为我发鸡盲看不到手机”

还问我们几时偷几时还，又说：“我真的没有发觉勒”，给她炸到

杰作二：

这次是丽婷啦

这位自恋的家伙，风骚的照片已像吃饭的次数一样

真是苦了木子和我无法忍笑

最好笑的是，我说要跟她借手机，她还很慷慨的“送羊入虎口”，哈哈

也还蛮好骗的，哈哈哈哈

杰作三：

其实这是出自biomed 的Ho师奶。 tissure paper也竟然给他改成一朵花，可惜无法拍下他在头上插花的样子。要怪就怪丽婷的手机的flash 打草惊蛇

总共用了5 种颜色的highlight。红，橙，黄，青，蓝

另一个角度，做的还蛮美的，不愧是Ho 师奶！

就这样，两小时的lecture度过了。最糟糕的是，木子和我都因为physio和biochem的成绩差答应自己要努力了，结果又酱虚度了光阴。看来我们虽然下定决心要努力，但同时更下定决心玩得更尽。努力读书，还真有点“心有余而力不足”，呵呵 =.="

无聊的我们

无可否认，我们考完microbiology有点无聊
本人甚至有点好像考完final的感觉，哈哈
（我想多了，不好意思）
你们以为我们只在google type 朋友的名字
这样的消遣怎会足够？
哈哈，“废人帮”的杰作怎会这样少？

杰作一：
在别人biochem presentation时，我们听得有点无聊，（s block的回音很严重，的确有点听不清楚，听清楚了也听不懂，哈哈哈），我们又吹起了te2文化，那就是“give them a clap”。都说是“a clap”，所以掌声只拍了一下，哈哈。之后，这玩意竟然被木子大人进化变成“monoclap”，“diclap”，“triclap”，“tetraclap” 和“a lot of claps”。还有无聊的chee shin竟然写在纸上传给整班宣传。可惜，因为这玩意太新，怕大家的默契不够，所以就告吹了。

杰作二：
同样亦在biochem presentation的时候。此时，dr. choo和我们都开OT了，那种想回家又没得回的感觉很纳闷。clapping的玩意玩得不够过瘾。结果，木子大人在本人的一句“那天我偷偷换了piang手机的wallpaper（哈哈，是什么wallpaper，你们还是自己问piang s.a.w吧！）”之后又有新玩意，跟文采和yong yong借了手机，帮她们换了她们自己风骚的照片为wallpaper。

生平准备为国捐躯的她，把大红花插在头发上，还摆出了一丝腼腆由蕴藏着洋洋得意的样子，一向来steady的她干吗又插花在头发上？哈哈（yongyong，对不起啦，我忍不住想post，哈哈）

文采的照片我目前还没有，下次再跟大人拿，只是现在略略的形容：文采那一张呢，就显得比较38了点，开起“five”的手势，眼睛睁得大大的，但嘴巴开得更是大，不知是否要欢迎苍蝇飞进去。脸上还带点春风满面，不知是什么事让她如此的风骚？

（本人经过再三考虑，还是觉得先得到他们的同意才将这照片放上来吧！）

杰作三：
这一次发生在physiology lecture。dr wong问大家，“which fish can live without water”。大家都沉静很想认真地在思考（或许有些静是因为见着周公），很聪明的piang s.a.w就在此时说出了“水鱼”（翻译成广东）。哇塞，dr wong立即说：“水鱼不是鱼！”哈哈，上个sem她花了半个sem的时间教我们biodiversity，怎知我们至今把“水鱼”当是鱼！真是苦了她，哈哈

今天还有一个笑话，那就是出自min-zhin的，他说：“以前考piano的时候我问老师，万一弹到一半要将谱翻去另一面该怎么办？”老师就建议说“可以用page turner，一小时五十块”。咦？要钱的哦，是什么机器这么high tech可以帮人翻书？那就当然很自然的问page turner是什么东西来？结果，老师竟然说：“huh? page turner是一个人来！”真的是被炸到

这几天太过无聊，这么无聊的东西也拿来讲，哈哈

BT恐怖区：背后灵的传奇

以下故事纯为虚假，与在生或死去的无关。如有雷同，纯粹巧合。（一定不可能的啦！）

近日来，流传了一段科学室里有幽灵的故事

不晓得其他BT同学有没有留意呢？……

别怕，本少今天将一一的，为大家，揭晓……

最近上lab的时候，我们都得拍下slides的图片来当观察，当然同时中，一定会有些无聊仔到处东拍西照，或是玩自拍等等。很不幸的，那些玩笑当中，竟然，拍出了不堪设想的东西出来。

两位受害者Wynnie和Juoanne当然十分害怕，找了我来分析。看清楚一些，突然间毛骨悚然，鸡皮疙瘩全都起来了。我想了很久，原本不想相信这是事实，可是人证物证，照片都有，我，真的无话可说。

事情，就在一年前发生……照片里的那个人，我的却认识。他就是我的死党，认泉兄。那一天，外头雷电交加，雨水狂浇。在大雨呼呼缓缓的当下，我和他留下来为我们的组继续做实验。应该是microbiology课，如果没记错。那天我们发现了新的virus，形状很可怪，但是真的无可抵赖，它就真的存在，是认泉兄先看见那个virus。突然间，我肚子疼，忍无可忍之下，我将画virus的任务交给了他，就匆匆的跑出去。回来时，认泉兄人已不见，留下的，就是一张画，还有这场面……

当我赶回来时，就看见这样的情形，惊讶万分！

这就是，认泉兄留下的最后一个笔记……

贩黄的照片，只留下丝丝的回忆

有专家说，这virus名称叫Meehoonvirus，非常独特，因为它是multi-stranded!(头顶上有一碗米粉般多的DNA结构)，所以非常复杂，分解能力也非常的强。还有更经典的是，我们知道virus的binding site非常独特，研究家发现MHV(也就是meehoonvirus简称）是专门bind在人类吃下米粉消化到49.9%后所出现的特别binding site。荒谬，简直太独特了！而且那天很不幸的，认泉兄确实在cafeteria吃了一大碗炒米粉。所以呢，认泉兄应该是不小心，给这个virus分解了。不然，没有其他可能的解释为什么他出事，我却没事。此外，大家也认为狂风暴雨的天气，没有人会剥下衣服裤子，然后搞失踪。没想到，一年后，竟然成为了lab spirit，也就是，科学室背后灵！！！！

吓倒了吧，呵呵，microbiology读到发烧了，所以请大家见谅。在此向主角RQ说声对不起，如果冒犯了的话。故事是因为一连串的搞笑事件慢慢连起来的，所以这故事才会如此诞生。

虽说有很多神,可是到目前为止都似乎没发生过什么"灵异事件"
直到....
这个sem开始的时候我们上microbio lab的时候发生了一件很"仙家"的事
那就是...我们收到神的旨意了!!!
那天的lab是叫我们自己做negative or indirect staining...
然后放在microscope下面看...
就在这个时候...
我们看到了神的旨意!!!

好久好久好久没有上来update一下blog了...

没办法...人出名了就是比较忙...哈哈~~

好啦...今天本大人心情不错

就让本大人来update一下咱们的blog

话说上星期上management的时候我和petshee(技安&阿福)发现桌子上有一个"漂亮妹妹"的画像

就是这张:

我已经尽量把画像"复原"到最original的样子了...

基于我们俩的艺术细胞不受控制...发生了mutation

所以我们手痒痒给这个"漂亮妹妹"添上了几笔...

结果...当当当当!!!

UTAr "校花"就此诞生!!!

看来"技安和阿福"的搞笑功力并没有退步啊~~

Plaza五楼待客之道

今天，我家来了个不速之客

她就是晏如姐啦！

在她还没踏进门口

我就听到了那熟悉“刺耳”“毛骨悚然”的“呐喊”

整家人顿时鸡皮疙瘩，哈哈

看她一开始进来就很不客气（贴切点是多嚣张），霸了沙发，还偷吃饼干，简直是把这家当成是她的家了。（看她还翘脚和吃得津津有味的样子呢！几欠打一下）她还嚣张到要我称她为“大王”或是“皇帝”。看似我有两个选择，但你们说，我有得选吗？算啦，过门也是客，我给她脸，呵呵。

芷涵回来了，立即把晏如姐从沙发赶走，还给她做了个超级迷你可爱的椅子。看，我们对你多好，那椅子极可爱一下，你一生人坐过几次啊？哈哈！（看她的嘴巴，还吃着饼干呢！只是比跟刚才意气风发的样子，这一张就显得特别可怜了）

当当当！就是这一张啦！可爱吧！

另一个角度，其实我们对他也算不错，给她做了个可以赏花的位子，这种鸟语花香的位子，特别待遇哦！（那花是给她凶神恶煞的脸吓死了，还有旁边的空罐，本来是装食物的，就这样给她吃完了）（花死了你还瞪它？给它安息吧！糟糕啊你！）
终于，有人顶不顺她过于嚣张，飞毛腿一脚把她踢出门，哈哈！看她“贴墙”的样子，大快人心啊！（好性感的脚哦，哈哈哈哈！这么蒙的照片也不失那性感，隐隐约约这样更是性感，哈哈）

被赶出门后还赖死不走的样子，从我电脑能copy的file也copy了，吃的也吃了，沙发也坐了，稀有的迷你可爱的椅子也坐了，还想怎样？像冤鬼一样死缠烂打！（像不像监狱啊？哈哈！）

P/S: 最后两张照片是蒙了点，因为那时我已经笑到弯腰了。还有，其实我们都很爱护客人的，对待客人都很好的，就像五星级酒店一样了，只是“这一只家伙”例外而已，嚣张带来的后果就是这样的，呵呵！

真不好的意识，我忘了当天报道智贤先生的生日。

20.06.08 当天12.00am 我们大伙人买了黑森林蛋糕拿去他家为他庆祝。

很简单的惊喜。（不懂有没有被惊喜？？：P）

拿着很简单的蛋糕，在黑暗中，大伙人唱了生日快乐歌。

我们的fake S.A.W 用吉他伴唱。

智贤是个跳班生。

所以他今年阳历应该是十九岁。

由于本人太高兴要欢迎有人进入两张的家庭，一时和蛋糕店员拿了2支蜡烛（代表了20 岁）。

直到秀婷问我，我才发现寿星公才19岁。

将错就错。

就庆祝农历的生日吧！！
